1. STEMES contributed $1,000.00 sponsor to RoboCamp STEM-K12 Program at the College of Engineering of University of Iowa, June 16-20, 2008

RoboCamp is a one day camp for high school students. It was organized by NASA researchers and engineering college faculty and staff at the University of Iowa. The camp gave K12 students the opportunity to explore and develop technical skills related to robotics-programming, electronics, and mechanical design. The program is design to encourage high school student to explore the science and engineering studies, and to encourage them for future STEM career development. STEMES sponsored $1,000.00 to support this program. The program pictures are

2. STEMES sponsored $1,000.00 to the program of "Integrating Computational Science into the Undergraduate Curriculum" as IEEE/ACM SC08 Summer Education Workshop, organized by The Center for Computation and Technology (CCT) at LSU. (more ..)

The LSU Center for Computation & Technology, in conjunction with the Supercomputing 2008 conference Education Program, hosteda weeklong workshop on “Integrating Computational Science into the Undergraduate Curriculum.” SC08 sent educators to teach this workshop, which took place June 8-14 on the LSU campus. Participants from colleges, universities and even elementary and secondary education institutions attended the workshop to learn new techniques, new curricula and new applications to further computational science education in all disciplines. The workshop is part of the Supercomputing conference’snational efforts to advance computational sciences as part of college undergraduate curricula. The participating faculty members were from different research backgrounds, including biology, chemistry, environmental science and music, and all attended the workshop to learn how they can bring computational research into their classrooms. The instructors demonstrated new computational science tools and techniques to use with students, such as wikis, moodles, mashups, programming and data sharing. The instructors lectured in the mornings, and participants worked on their own projects and interest areas in the afternoons, with one-on-one help from the instructors.
